Snoring... This scourge can make your life difficult, but above all, it makes life difficult for your loved ones and those around you, because the person who snores is often the first to fall asleep! It can be temporary, intermittent, or regular. Snoring may or may not be associated with sleep apnea. This phenomenon affects over 40% of adults over 50. Discover how to remedy it with these 6 natural tips.

The steam and essential oils combo

Very often, snoring is due to nasal congestion. Therefore, there's nothing better than decongesting your nostrils! To do this, you have two options:

  • Using a facial steamer with 3 or 4 drops of tea tree or eucalyptus essential oils to clear your nose.
  • Or, using a nasal irrigator which will deeply cleanse your nostrils.

Whether it's option one or option two, the process should be repeated every evening until your airways are completely clear. These techniques are ideal when your snoring is due to a cold, sinusitis, etc.

Cardamom

Cardamom is also very effective in regulating problems related to blocked nasal passages. Indeed, this plant is known for its expectorant and decongestant properties. It also helps to reduce snoring related to allergies and colds.

→ Add 1 to 2 teaspoons of cardamom powder to a glass of lukewarm water and drink the mixture 30 minutes before bedtime. Repeat this every evening until snoring improves.

Nettle

Still in the same vein of snoring linked to allergies, you can opt for nettle in the form of an infusion. It is known for its anti-inflammatory and antihistamine properties. Even without allergies, this plant can save you from snoring.

→ Infuse a few dried nettle leaves in water for 5 minutes, strain, and drink this warm herbal tea 2 to 3 times a day.

Chamomile

Chamomile is often recognized for helping with sleep, but it also helps to limit snoring as much as possible. Indeed, it has anti-inflammatory properties that would help to reduce swelling of the mucous membranes to stop snoring.

→ Drink a chamomile flower infusion every evening, adding a teaspoon of honey, just before going to bed.

Peppermint

Another alternative related to mucous membrane swelling: peppermint! It's ideal for reducing temporary snoring that makes your life difficult. Whether snoring is linked to allergies, the ambient air in the room, or even the season, peppermint will be the solution.

→ Pour 1 to 2 drops of peppermint essential oil into a glass of water and gargle with it before going to bed. Do not swallow the solution.
